ANSTA Zunheboto extends support Zunheboto, May 13 (MExN): The ANSTA Zunheboto unit has extended support to the NSSFOF and ANSTA central Kohima with regard to the ultimatum submitted to the Government of Nagaland for total bifurcation of Elementary and Secondary from Higher Secondary in schools. The unit in a press release termed the move as a “genuine cause for systematic functioning of the department and schools towards imparting quality education to the future generation.” It further stated that it will co-operate and extend full support in the event of failure to address the just cause.     DC informs National Merit Award recipients Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): Nine students from Dimapur have been selected for the National Merit Award under Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice of Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi. The students have been selected based on their performances in the HSLC and HSSLC 2015. The students are: Akivikali Chophi, Kavita Kumari, Dipankar Mandal, Rohit Kumar Ram, Neema Lama, Gitasri Biswas, Uma G.C., Mompy Boruah and Anil Kumar Thakur. Kesonyu Yhome, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur in a press release has informed the above merit students to produce proof of identity, Mark Sheet, Tribe/Caste certificate, 3 passport size photos and to meet SDO (Civil) Development, Office of the DC Dimapur during office hour without fail.     Cough syrup, liquor seized in Kohima Kohima, May 13 (MExN): The Excise unit of Kohima seized 680 bottles of cough syrup Elturex from Zunheboto bound Tata Sumo (NL 06T 559) on May 12 at Peducha check gate. A press release from Assistant Commissioner of Excise (Admin) informed that Khevihe Yeptho (25) was arrested in this connection and forwarded to judicial custody. The seizure was made by Akum (AIE) and constables Kiyivi, Vangtaok and Keduoneituo. The release further informed that a total of 228 bottles of 750 ml MC Rum, 24 bottles of 650 ml beers, and 192 canned beers have been seized at Peducha check gate during the period from May 5 to May 12, 2016.     Governor's Award to toppers of board exams Kohima, May 13 (DIPR): The function for presentation of the Governor's Award to the Toppers and felicitation of Rank Holders of the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2016 by the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya will be held on May 30 at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima at 11:00 am. The Top 20 ranked students of HSLC Examination 2016 and Top Ten ranked students of the 3 streams of HSSLC Examination 2016 and the respective heads of institutions have been invited to attend the function. Further, all the Rank Holders have been informed to attend the function in their respective school uniforms. All invitees must reach the venue by 10:30 am and be seated by 10:45 am.     NSCN (IM) Wokha Town Commander informs Wokha, May 13 (MExN): NSCN (IM)’s Wokha Town Commander cum ZCO, Wokha district, Major YN Lotha has informed all the general public of Wokha district that no tax such as Army Ration tax, 24% vehicle tax should be paid to any person rather than those authorized for it. Anybody paying without the knowledge of the ZCO, Wokha district will be doing at their own risk, stated the ZCO in a press release. The training is jointly organized by the Finance Department, School Education Department, and Directorate of Income Tax, Guwahati. Therefore, a press release from Wothungo Tsopoe, Additional Director (HoD) has asked all Treasury Officers and DDOs under the School Education Department along with their Accountant/Cashiers to be present for the training without fail since other crucial issues will be discussed in addition to the training.     Poimi Youth Organisation informs Jalukie, May 13 (MExN): All the members of Poimi Youth Organisation, Jalukie have been informed that the organisation has convened general meeting cum office bearers’ election on May 15, 2:00 pm at Poimi Union Community Hall, Jalukie Town. President of the organization, Koteulungbe Hinglak has asked all the members to attend the meeting positively.  

  NNP+ observes Foundation Day Kohima, May 13 (MExN): The Network of Naga People Living with HIV/AIDS (NNP+) Kohima observed its 13th Foundation Day on May 13 at its office hall. In his presidential address, Lanu Aier, President NNP+ acknowledged the pioneers and members who had struggled and faced hardship during the formation of the Network. He also lauded the efforts and support of Project Staffs and District Level Networks since the inception of the Network and urged to continue pushing efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, informed a press release received here. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Shanpanthung, PO, Vihaan Project and short speeches were delivered by Bendangchuba, PM, Vihaan Project and Visevinuo Khrieo, HIV/TB Coordinator, Vihaan Project.     Committee on Subordinate Legislation meeting rescheduled Kohima, May 13 (MExN): MLA Dr. TM Lotha, who is the Chairman of Committee on Subordinate Legislation has rescheduled the first meeting of the Committee to May 20 at 12:00 pm in the Committee Room of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat. Informing this in a press release, Susieyana, Joint Secretary, NLA has requested all members of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation (2016- 17) to attend the meeting positively.
