NNC directs to observe plebiscite day Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has directed all the NNC Regional Councils and the officials in the Naga homeland to observe May 16, the day Naga plebiscite was held. The Naga National Council with the whole Naga people in 1951 on May 16 conducted the Naga National Plebiscite for sovereignty with absolute 99.9% voting for sovereign Naga state, said a press release from Information & Publicity Wing, NNC. “Therefore, the whole Naga people in the homeland must observe this political right of the Nagas with determination and prayer to God Almighty on the day,” the release stated. “Let us also remember the peoples, elders and leaders who did all the political rights for our homeland at that point of time.” Kma police seize ganja worth Rs. 14.3 lakh Kohima, May 14 (MExN): Kohima Police manning inter-state check gate at Khuzama seized 286 kg of ganja worth Rs. 14,30,000/- in the national market on May 13 around 1:30 pm. The contraband ganja was found concealed inside one Maruti Gypsy bearing registration number NL-01C-3579 and one Maruti Wagon-R bearing registration number WB12B-2403, a press release from PRO, Kohima Police informed. In this connection, three persons identified as Gideon Vemai (25), Th Bismark (24), and Khyavei (20), all from Senapati, Manipur, were taken into police custody and a regular case vide Khuzama P.S Case No. 0020/2016 U/S 20 (b) (ii) (C) NDPS Act registered against them for conducting further investigation.
