CMA demands stringent punishment for rape accused Phek, June 22 (MExN): Chakhesang Mothers' Association (CMA) has condemned the “barbarous and horrific act” of Khüchopra Veswü in repeatedly raping a minor for over a year. In a press statement, CMA demanded that the accused should be awarded the most stringent punishment as per the laws of the land. “This kind of insane and heinous crime has no place in a civilized society and the perpetrator should not be allowed to live in the mainstream society,” stated the statement issued by President, Zaposhelü Venuh. “It deeply pains us to learn about recurring atrocities and violence committed against women and brings out questions as to how far women are safe and secure today in our society,” it added. The association further appealed to the authorities concerned to provide adequate counseling and treatment to the young girl “who has gone through this most traumatic and horrific experience one can ever imagine.”     Body recovered in Dimapur Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): One unidentified body of a non-Naga person aged around 35 years was found near Rail Bazar, Dimapur on June 22. Sub-Urban Police Station on receipt of the information rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Civil Hospital Dimapur for conduct of post mortem examination, informed a press release from PRO, Dimapur Police.   Inquiry Commission invites written statements on Wuzu firing Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The Inquiry Commission of the July 16, 2015 Wuzu firing incident has invited written statements from 46 Assam Rifles, 12 Para Commandos, Village Councils, individuals, NGOs, family members of the victims, organizations and any other witnesses interested to assist the Inquiry Commission regarding the incident. Written statements should be filed before the Inquiry Commission, whose office is situated at the Police Officers' Central Mess, Chumukedima, Dimapur district on or before July 20, 2016 (Wednesday). The written statements should be accompanied with affidavits, documents, and evidences in any form, in possession of the individuals/authority filing the written statements, stated K. Naben, Secretary to the Wuzu Firing Incident Inquiry Commission. It may be mentioned that two school students were killed and a woman was injured in a firing at Wuzu on July 16, 2015 allegedly by security forces.
