Advisory on issue of clogged drains Kohima, June 30 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, IAS has informed that with a view to address the issue of clogged drains and poor road conditions, a meeting was held with PWD (R&B), PWD (NH), BRTF, Police and KMC on May 2 where the following advisory has been issued for the general public and government departments/agencies undertaking construction of roads under Kohima district: All approach roads connecting to the National Highways shall maintain a minimum vacant space of 2(two) meters from the edge of blacktopping for the purpose of drainage, etc.; All construction of approach roads to National Highways shall ensure to keep the drainage open for free flow of drain; All construction of approach roads, private or public, touching National Highway shall henceforth require an NOC from the concerned department i.e., PWD (NH) or Border Roads Organization as the case may be. In this connection, the Deputy Commissioner Kohima has sought the general public and all concerned to abide by the above advisory and further informed that failure to do so may invite penal actions a per relevant sections of Act / Law. ATMA Sangsangyu block conduct BFAC meeting Tuendang, June 30 (MExN): ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangyu block conducted BFAC meeting at Sangsangyu village on June 29. BTM Temjenmenla highlighted the activities of ATMA and its functioning at the block level. During the meeting, the farmers discussed various farming activities, trainings and demonstrations to be undertaken at different villages within the block. In a separate programme, ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangyu block conducted training and demonstrations at Hakchang village on June 29. During the programme, resource person Recha, HEA (Horticulture) demonstrated on “pest and disease management in orange”, where the farmers were made aware of the various common pests and diseases and the ways to control them. Practical training on preparation of Bordeaux mixture and its application in citrus was demonstrated on the field. He also trained the farmers on the topic ‘soil conservation’, stressing on intercropping and crop rotation. Further, BTM Longkhim block demonstrated on construction of vermicompost tank, materials required and the techniques involved. Its advantages and certain precautions were also discussed. 19 farmers attended the programme. Mon farmers trained on organic food market Mon, June 30 (MExN): “Organic food market is one of the fastest growing businesses in India with increase in demand due to the perceived advantage of such food,” stated Moikam, ATM, ATMA Mon in a training at Shyiong Village under Wakching block on June 28. He told the farmers not to use the convenient chemical tools in order to get Organic Certification as one of the most important aspects of organic farming is the biological control of pests and diseases without using chemicals. He also stressed that design and management of the production system are critical to the success of the farm. He also told the participants to select enterprises that complement each other and choose crop rotation and tillage practices to avoid or reduce crop problems. Progressive farmers and farmer’s friend from Shiyiong and Tanhai villages of Wakching block attended the training. Later, hands on frontline demonstration for farmers on organic nursery bed preparation and biological control of pest and diseases in soyabean and paddy using locally available raw materials was conducted by Tennyei, ATM, Roseline Pusa, BTM and Mhonchumo of ATMA Mon at the paddy field. Altogether, 62 farmers from Shyiong, Tanhai and Wakching benefitted from the programme. Notice on identified duplicate electors within Kohima Kohima, June 30 (DIPR): Additional Deputy Commissioner & Electoral Registration Officer Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi has issued a public notice stating that in compliance to the Election Commission of India instructions, the possible duplicate electors (possible double entry of name in electoral rolls) existing in the current electoral rolls within the district and inter-district has been generated through the De-duplication software. Physical verification of such duplicate has been done by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their respective polling station during the month of April and May 2016 by going house to house. Based on the BLOs verification report the list of the identified duplicate electors has been prepared for making deletion from the electoral roll and the list is made available in the Office of the Electoral Registration Officer, Kohima for public inspection. The ADC & Electoral Registration Officer Kohima has therefore invited any organization/party/individual for inspection of the list and lodging of complaint, if any, on or before the 14thJuly 2016.
