SSSUD lifts indefinite ban on sand Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): Sand Stockists & Suppliers Union Dimapur (SSSUD) has lifted the indefinite ban on sand at Manjha route with effect from October 16. The ban was imposed since September 22. A press release from SSSUD general secretary, Nito Sumi and president, Viniho Shohe informed that the decision to lift the ban was taken after consultation with sand mahaldars of Karbi Anglong. The SSSUD praised the KLNLF for accepting the proposal made by the union and also acknowledged the owners of sand carrier vehicles as well as the general public for supporting the ban and implementing it successfully.     Zhavame Union Kohima condemns Kohima, October 15 (MExN): Zhavame Union Kohima (ZUK) has condemned the killing of a woman on the night of October 8 at Tenyiphe-I, Dimapur. In a press release, ZUK president, Deo Movi appealed to the authorities concerned and the law enforcing agency to immediately nab the accused and award befitting and exemplary punishment to avert recurrence of such crime in the society.     NSCN (R) appoints new chairman of Yimchungru region Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) has appointed Kheantsu, Deputy Kilonser as Chairman of its Yimchungrü region. For further queries and clarification, contact 8413937305.     NPF Kiphire condoles Kiphire, October 15 (MExN): NPF Kiphire division president and his officials along with presidents of NPF 59 A/C and 60 A/C have expressed shock and pain over the sudden demise of Chothrongba Sangtam, former NPF candidate from 59 A/C and former president of NPF Kiphire division. In a condolence note, the presidents described late Chothrongba as a “hard core regional leader.” Acknowledging that he has contributed and delivered “untiring service” to the NPF party, the note stated the vacuum created by his death will be difficult to fill. It further shared sorrow and sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed to God to grant peace and solace to the departed soul.     NNC reminds to observe ‘National Martyrs' Day’ Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has reminded all the Naga people to observe the ‘National Martyrs' Day’ on October 18 with “prayer and petition to God Almighty for His blessing on the day.” A press release from Information & Publicity Wing, NNC stated that the Naga people and national workers in particular should observe the day as “the day is sacred since thousands and thousands Naga people have sacrificed their lives for Naga Freedom of Recognition to be a Sovereign Nation.” The NNC directed all the Regional Councils, Sub-Regional Councils, Women Federation and the Central Executive Council members to solemnly observe the day “with prayer and petition to our living God in remembrance of our Naga martyrs.”     Medziphema Town to be declared Open Defecation Free Medziphema, October 15 (DIPR): The Medziphema Sub-division Departmental Co-ordination meeting held on October 14 resolved to declare Medziphema Town as Open Defecation Free by the end of October 2016 as per the Government of India’s policy to maintain clean environment. The house also directed all the public as well as Government servants who have settled in Medziphema for more than six months to enroll in Electoral Roll for the upcoming municipal election. Earlier, Dr. C. Tetseo, District Nodal Officer (NTCP), CMO Office Dimapur gave a PowerPoint presentation on tobacco control for awareness and highlighted about the dangers of consuming tobacco.
