Excise personnel seize liquor Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): The Excise Mobile Squad’s Special Surveillance Team led by Inspector L Hevito Zhimomi seized a consignment containing 7236 bottles of assorted liquor on November 14 around 4:30 pm at Burma Camp, Dimapur. In this connection, one Tovika Sumi was arrested and charged under relevant section of the NLTP Act, 1989, informed a press release from Superintendent of Excise (Mobile Squad), Katoho Sumi. The seized articles were deposited in the Excise malkhana, Dimapur for destruction. The Superintendent of Excise (MS) stated that in addition to the unit’s normal duties, the Special Surveillance Team will remain vigilant to curb the illegal flow of liquor.     Joint Secretary MoH visits ITC Pangsha Pangsha, November 15 (DIPR): The Joint Secretary (In-charge of North East), Ministry of Home, Government of India, Satyandra Garg visited International Trade Centre (ITC) Pangsha with Parliamentary Secretary VG & Women Development, Khumo on November 12. During his visit, a brief meeting was held with Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) and citizens of Pangsha village, where he assured to enhance the salary of VGs and expressed his concern on the demands of the ENPO. While expressing gratitude to the citizens of Pangsha for their cooperation and welcome, he called upon the citizens to strengthen unity and understanding for the interest of the country. Ex-Minister Pongom, who shared the history of first VG creation at Pangsha, also highlighted about the loyalty of its people to the GOI.     SCERT capacity building prog Kohima, November 15 (MExN): The Director of SCERT Nagaland has informed that four-day capacity building programme will be conducted for the DEOs, DDEOs, SDEOs, Asst. and Deputy Directors of School Education. The training is scheduled from November 22 to 25 under the establishment of State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT), SCERT, Kohima. All the officers have been requested to report to the training centre by 9:00 am on November 22 for registration.     Thangphure village citizens mourn Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): The citizens of Thangphure village have expressed shock and pain over the demise of Licho T. Thonger on November 13 in Dimapur. A condolence message received here remembered Licho as a very simple, honest and dedicated person. “He had a jovial personality and strong determination of leadership quality from his student life.” According to the note, he was one of the pioneers of Tuensang District Students’ Federation (TDSF), now ENSF, and served as its longest President and also served as Jt. Secretary of Tuensang Mon People Organisation (TMPO), now called ENPO. He also served as Secretary, NPF Central. “Without his indelible job and effortless concern for the upliftment and unity of our Eastern people, we would not have been how we unitedly stand today,” the note stated. The citizens further conveyed deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rests in eternal peace.
