63rd Naga Republic Day
Kohima, March 19 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be observing 63rd Naga Republic Day on March 22, 10:00 am at TCP, Kohima. Gen. (Retd) Viyalie Metha, Kedahge FGN will unfurl the national flag and address the nation. Short speech will be delivered by Thepfülhouvi Solo. The programme will be led by Shevohu Keyho, Kilo Kilonser FGN, while vote of thanks will be proposed by Lhouvitsü, Speaker, Tatar Hoho FGN.
NNC/FGN (Singnya-Zhopra) asks to celebrate Naga Republic Day
Kohima, March 19 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (Singnya-Zhopra) has informed all the Regional authorities headed by Midan Peyu to observe the 63rd Naga Republic Day with “holiness and prayer” at the respective Regional Oking on March 22. A press release from the Ministry of Rali Wali Affairs/MIP, FGN further directed all the Midan Peyus to make own local arrangements for the “grand success of this auspicious day.”
AR apprehend NSCN (K) cadre
Mokokchung, March 19 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) apprehended an NSCN (K) cadre identified as Pongnyan Phom (44) during a search conducted at a house in Bhumnyu village of Longleng district on March 19, according to a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The release alleged that the accused has been actively involved in facilitating the cross border movement of cadres in the Indo-Myanmar border. He had reportedly surrendered in April 2016 and rejoined NSCN (K) in 2017. One mobile phone with SIM card, one Aadhaar card, one joint interrogation report and surrender certificate were recovered from him, the release said. The apprehended along with the recovered items was handed over to Longleng Police Station for further investigation, it added.
AR construct borewell
Mon, March 19 (MExN): Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) has constructed a borewell in Shengha Chingnyu village, one of the remote villages of Mon district. It was inaugurated and handed over to the villagers by Chief Angh of the village in the presence of Col Dipankar Basu, SM Commandant 35 AR on March 17, informed a press release from AR. Stating that the villagers have to ferry water in the mountainous terrain over long distances, the release said the construction of the borewell will make potable water available to the residents of Shengha Chingnyu and nearby villages.
