
NPA welcomes NJWS guidelines DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Press Association (NPA) has welcomed the notification issued by the Government of Nagaland on the guidelines for Nagaland Journalists’ Welfare Scheme (NJWS) and acknowledged the Department of Information and Public Relation for their effort in materializing the demand of the NPA for the welfare of the media persons in the state. According to the notification issued on October 3, 2016, the scheme has provisions for one-time ex-gratia relief on urgent basis to journalists and their families in cases of death, rendering permanent disability, major ailments and serious injuries in accidents. A press note from the NPA said that it has been steadfastly pursuing for such a welfare scheme for journalists. It added that the Nagaland Journalists Welfare Fund (NJWF) has brought much needed security for any unforeseen eventualities in the lives of journalists. In order to bring actual benefit to fraternity members, the NPA appealed to the state government to make the scheme operational and the fund available with immediate effect. Nagaland Press Association informs Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): Nagaland Press Association (NPA) has informed all the journalists in Nagaland that it will be undertaking enrolment of new members and renewal of membership for those already registered. The forms for this purpose will be available with the respective media houses and the press clubs. Last date for the enrolment and renewal of membership is December 15, 2016. All concerned have been requested to adhere to the set deadline and submit the form either at the Press Point, Dimapur or any of the office bearers of the NPA. Power supply to be disrupted in Mon district Mokokchung, November 22 (MExN): Mokokchung Transmission Division SDO (Trans), Er Shiludi Longkumer has informed in a press release that the ongoing jungle cutting work along the 66KV transmission line under Mokokchung Transmission Division is now being carried out along Tuli-Naginimora line. “As such, supply of power will be disrupted occasionally till November 28. Therefore, affected consumers under Mon District are requested to bear with the inconvenience,” the press release added. License to stock, sell fire crackers Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): Parties interested to stock and sell fire crackers have been directed to obtain permits for the same, i.e., license in Form LE-5 after duly filling up Form AE-5. The same may be obtained from the office of the Commissioner of Police, informed a press release from ADCP/PRO, Dimapur. The licenses will be issued totally on a temporary basis and the last date for submission of the Form will be December 15, 2016, it added. ENSU MOCK mourns Kohima, November 22 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students' Union Mount Olive College Kohima (ENSU MOCK) has expressed condolences at the sudden demise of Khaipong Tikhir, Press and Information Secretary, ENSU MOCK on October 19 in Dimapur. In a condolence message, ENSU MOCK stated that late Khaipong, a B.A 6th Semester student of Mount Olive College Kohima, impressed all who came across him with his simplicity and humbleness. “In his death ENSU MOCK has lost one of the finest personalities and young talented leader as a social worker in the society,” it added. “He was a man of young talent with a unique ability to excel at whatever field he chose.” Extending sympathy to the bereaved family, the union prayed that God will give them solace and comfort. Assam Rifles apprehend one Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): 32 Assam Rifles along with Police representative apprehended one person with ammunition, explosive material, a welding machine and accessories used for weapons manufacturing on November 21 at Rilan village during a search operation. According to a press release from Assam Rifles, the apprehended person identified as R Samuel Lotha (41) was “involved in illegal trafficking of arms, ammunition, explosive and was also carrying out illegal repair to various weapons at his house.” He along with the recovered items was handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur for further interrogation, the release added.
