DMC declares Clock Tower area ‘open-vendor free zone’
Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has declared the Clock Tower area an “open-vendor free zone.” Therefore, the DMC Administrator Moa Sangtam in an order has informed all the footpath vendors around the area to “immediately stop any such activities in the above mentioned zone.” It was warned that action will be initiated against anyone found violating the order.
Applicants invited for Governor’s Award 2018
Kohima, March 21 (MExN): Any candidate having distinction in art, music and literature interested to submit their application for Governor’s Award 2018 have been asked to submit their bio-data and supporting documents to the District Cultural Office, Kohima on or before April 9 during office hours. The Governor’s Award ceremony for distinction in art, music and literature was instituted in 2003 and has since been an annual state event. The award ceremony is held on Independence Day.
CAKU calls meeting
Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): The Chakhro Angami Kuda Union (CAKU) will hold an executive meeting on March 24, 10:00 am at its office premises in Phevima (Kacharigaon). All executive members, Village Council Chairmen, Secretaries, GBs, ward and colony leaders, area representatives, CKRAK, CAKYO, CAKSU and all CAKU representatives to other organizations such as APO, AYO, ASU, CPO, CYO, CSU and NCD, CAKU advisor and also all concerned ‘Shamus' residing within the CAKU jurisdiction etc. have been requested to attend the meeting positively.
Assam Rifles apprehend NSCN (K) cadre
Kohima, March 21 (MExN): Chieswema battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) launched an operation with a police representative and apprehended one alleged NSCN (K) cadre on March 20 in New Secretariat, Kohima. A press release from Assam Rifles has identified the cadre as District Secretary Mhasibeituo Moses Yhome (28). “The individual revealed that he had been involved in collection of illegal taxes and extortion of money from local public in Kohima Town,” the release stated. It further said that 42 copies of ‘extortion slips’, Rs 35,910/- in cash, and one laptop were recovered from him. The individual along with recovered items was handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation, it added.
