One arrested for demanding money from businesses
imapur, March 28 (MExN): Dimapur Police along with AET Zone-II party while performing surveillance duty in and around Dhobinalla area arrested one person near Traffic Point for demanding money from the business establishment in the area on March 26. A press release from ADCP/PRO Dimapur Police alleged that the accused tried to flee. He took out a pistol and tried to fire upon the officer on duty, it stated. However, the accused identified as Pukhato Kiba alias Nikato Kiba (19) was overpowered. Following items were recovered from his possession – .22 pistol with magazine, .22 live rounds, cash of Rs 3915/-, according to the release. A case has been registered and investigation is going on, it added.
Skill development training on beekeeping underway in Wokha
Wokha, March 28 (MExN): Six days skill development training on beekeeping was inaugurated in Wokha on March 26. The programme is assisted by NABARD RO Dimapur and implemented in association with Mass Educational Welfare Society, Wokha. S Amarjit Mangang, DDM NABARD informed that NABARD has been conducting many developmental and promotional programmes including skill development to strengthen the rural economy by connecting the rural population with institutional credit. He also highlighted various infrastructural support provided by NABARD to various agencies. A host of other officials including RC Sarkar, Lead Bank, Manager SBI, Masheto Nandu, BM NStCB Wokha, Lipok Ozukum, BM Central Bank Wokha and Lamathung Ezung, Beekeeping Inspector from KVIB also spoke. 35 trainees from different colonies of Wokha Town and adjoining villages attended the programme.
NGBF expresses condemnation
Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has expressed “utmost resentment and shock” at the killing of Lunkholal Singson, a Veterinary Field Assistant in Zunheboto. The NGBF in a statement issued by president, Shalem Konyak and general secretary, Shikuto Zalipu urged the authorities concerned to do justice as per the law. It also conveyed condolence to the bereaved family. The Federation further condemned the “assassination attempts” on Joy Chandra and Rekha Das in Dimapur by some armed people. Expressing sympathy towards the families, it appealed to “our people” to learn to live together in harmony. “Our society today needs peace to progress and it is our responsibility to protect and safeguard the minority communities living in our Land. Let us set a good example of humanity for our generation,” it added.
NEISSR observes Earth Hour
Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): Students and faculty members of NEISSR, Dimapur observed Earth Hour on March 24 in the college premises. Fr. John Poji (Vice-Principal), Dr. Deben (Asst. Professor) and faculty members of the college shared about the background of the event and necessities of caring for the natural environment even as one works for economic development of the state. Awareness was created among the students about the importance and purpose of Earth Hour, a press release informed. A worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour for 2018 was observed on March 24 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The faculty members also shared about the importance of celebrating the event.
173 Bn CRPF build toilets for travellers
Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): In line with ‘Clean India Campaign’, 173 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur & Nagaland Sector have constructed two toilet complexes – one at Jharnapani in Dimapur district and another at Peducha in Kohima district – for the convenience of the public traversing between Dimapur and Kohima. The toilets were inaugurated by Sarbjit Singh, DIGP (Ops) CRPF, Kohima in the presence of Joseph Keishing, Commandant, 173 Bn CRPF along with the villagers of the areas and officers and men of 173 Bn CRPF on March 28. A press release from Joseph Keishing, Commandant, 173 Bn CRPF informed that separate block for women have also been made available in each complex.
