Regional workshop on technical education

Kohima, April 3 (DIPR): The Department of Technical Education, Nagaland is organizing the 4th Regional Workshop on Technical Education for the Directors and Principals of North Eastern States at Hotel Vivor, Kohima from April 7-9. The workshop will be held under the theme ‘Challenges in achieving excellence through accreditation in polytechnics of North Eastern States.’ Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along will be the chief guest and guest of honour respectively at the inaugural programme on April 7. The workshop is being sponsored by National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Kolkata.  

Governor offers condolences

Kohima, April 3 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has expressed grief at the demise of RK Dorendro Singh, a veteran politician and former Chief Minister of Manipur, on March 30. In a condolence message, Acharya described Dorendro as a personal friend and a good human being. “His contributions for the welfare of the people of Manipur in particular and the country in general will be remembered forever,” he stated. The Governor mentioned that Late RK Dorendro Singh was four times Chief Minister of Manipur from 1974 and 1993 and also served as speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and MP, Rajya Sabha. “In his demise, people of Manipur have lost a tall and prominent leader,” he added, while conveying condolence to members of the bereaved family.  

NUSU (L) mourns

Lumami, April 3 (MExN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union (NUSU (L)) has expressed sorrow at the demise of Dr. Kughaka Hotoi Chishi on April 1. A condolence message from NUSU (L) president, K Chumseli Anar stated that Nagaland University students remember Dr. Chishi as “knowledgeable and a scholar who had great concern for the welfare of the society.” He was man of principle who had a greater vision for Nagas, it added. The union further expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty to grant them solace.    

NSF Federal Assembly

Kohima, April 3 (MExN): The Assembly Secretariat of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has notified that the 3rd Federal Assembly of NSF for the tenure 2017-2019 will be held on April 5 at Mokokchung Village, hosted by AKM. The session will begin at 10:00 am. A press release from NSF Federal Assembly Speaker, Amonbo Zeliang has informed all the federating units, sub-ordinate bodies and senior leaders of NSF to attend the Federal Assembly positively.  

Wokha DPDB meeting

Wokha, April 3 (MExN): The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Wokha will be held on April 11. This was informed by Chairman, Wokha DPDB and Advisor, Information Technology, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon. All the board members have been requested to attend the meeting without fail.
