Gov lauds mini Hornbills festivals; favours inclusion of Bishu festival
Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has lauded the Government’s decision to hold mini Hornbill festivals in all district headquarters coinciding with the festivals of the respective areas. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the Governor called it a wonderful initiative which will attract tourists from home and abroad. However, Acharya, reacting to a press note published in local dailies, wherein the Dimasa community expressed dismay for not including Bishu festival in mini Hornbill festival for Dimapur district felt that “the demand for inclusion of Bishu festival may be favourably looked into as they are one of the sixteen tribes of Nagaland.”
Farmers’ Welfare Day on May 2
Kohima, April 23 (MExN): To commemorate Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (Village Self Governance Campaign) organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Nagaland will observe Farmers’ Welfare Day on May 2. On the day, animal health care, AI, and vaccination will be provided, while awareness camps for disseminating information and spreading awareness amongst farmers on the schemes implemented by Central and State department for developing animal husbandry & veterinary services will be held in all the districts through the Chief Veterinary Officer. A press release from Dr. Aomangyang Walling, Addl. Director & HoD has requested all the farmers/agripreneurs to participate in the programme and benefit from it.
KPC expresses sadness
Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) has expressed sadness over the demise of Nounevilie Kire, younger brother of former KPC president and editor of Capi Mhalezolie Kire. KPC conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty grant them solace, and also for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Wokha SDO (C) notifies to claim seized vehicles
Wokha, April 23 (DIPR): Wokha SDO (C), T Lanusenla Longkumer has notified to all whose vehicles have been seized during the eviction drive carried out on April 17 to claim their vehicles within 30 days from the date of issue of this notice. Failing to do so, the vehicles will be auctioned off without further notice.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Task Force formed for Wokha district
Wokha, April 23 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS) has informed that in pursuance to the direction of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Task Force under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao for Wokha district has been constituted as under: Chairman – Deputy Commissioner and Members – Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, District Education Officer, Project Director DRDA, District Economics & Statistical Officer, District Welfare Officer, President Lotha Eloe Hoho, representatives of Wokha District Legal Services Authority, District Child Protection Officer, District Public Relations Officer, and DPO ICDS.
ANHTU general meeting
Kohima, April 23 (MExN): A general meeting of All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) will be held on April 27, 11:00 am at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima. ANHTU in a press release has informed that the entire Silver Jubilee program will be chalked out in the meeting, adding it is compulsory for all the unit presidents, secretaries and Silver Jubilee committee members to attend the meeting. All the Silver Jubilee Committee Convenors have also been requested to submit the proposals from each committee for Silver Jubilee celebration.
