28th death anniversary of Phizo on April 30
Kohima, April 24 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) has informed that the 28th death anniversary of AZ Phizo, Father of the Naga Nation will be observed on April 30, 7:00 am at Phizo Graveyard, Phizo Hill, Kohima. A press release from NNC joint secretary, Acüyi Vadeo has requested all to participate in the occasion. Meanwhile, it reminded that the NNC/FGN joint meeting will subsequently be held on the same day at 10:00 am at Transit Peace Camp, Kohima.
Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team arrest one
Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET)- 1 party apprehended an 18-year-old while he was collecting “illegal tax” from vehicles plying at Henivi village, Dimapur on April 24 around 1:30 pm. A press release from Dimapur Police stated that following articles were recovered and seized from the accused: Extortion slips of NNC (NA) – 6; Henivi River Bank Maintenance Tax Slip – 9; Henivi Youth Department Road Maintenance Slip – 28; GPRN UT-1 Tax Slip – 1; NPGN/NNC (N/A) Tax Slip – 12; and cash amount of Rs. 1860/-. In this connection, a regular case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur and further investigation is on, the release added.
KMC informs on carry bags
Kohima, April 24 (MExN): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed all importers, stockiest, distributers, sellers and users of plastic and compostable carry bags to comply with provisions of the Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016. A press release from KMC Administrator, Elizabeth Ngully stated that the thickness of petro-based plastic carry bags/ films should be 50 microns and above, except for compostable carry bags. Shopkeepers/street vendors under Kohima municipality willing to provide plastic bags for dispensing any commodity should register with the KMC, it added. Meanwhile, sellers of compostable carry bags/films should obtain certificate from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)/Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) before marketing and selling of such carry bags. Observing that many traders are still using unauthorized plastic carry bags, the KMC Administrator warned that henceforth, anyone found violating the rule will be penalized as per the appropriate Act.
AVUD offers condolence
Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The Aghunato Village Union Dimapur (AVUD) has mourned the demise of Rev. Aheto Sema, Youth Secretary, WSBAK on April 24 at CMC Vellore. “He (Rev. Aheto Sema) was wonderful, loving and resourceful young intellectual, very humble, dedicated, far sighted and visionary servant of God loved by all,” acknowledged AVUD in a condolence message. “He has done many good deeds within a short span of his life, set many good exemplary deeds that we all need to learn. His contribution towards the AVUD will always be remembered.” The union extended condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Lord consoles and comforts them.
Khiamniungan Students’ Union mourns
Tuensang, April 24 (MExN): Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has expressed sadness over the demise of Rev. JP Khaoshai, president, Khiamniunagan Cultural Committee (Myanmar) on April 23 at Khamti, Myanmar. “…it is not length of life, but depth and deeds of life, such was Lt. Rev. JP Khaoshai who had sacrificed the entire life for the cause of the Khiamniungan people in both Myanmar and India and the Nagas of Myanmar in general,” stated a condolence message from KSU president, P Hatho and general secretary, Puthai T. The students’ union prayed that the love and mercy of the Lord be bestowed upon the bereaved family.
NSCN (IM) condoles
Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Sahriinii Vemai, Tatar (Status) on April 24 in Senapati. Born on November 10, 1919, Late Sahriinii joined the national service on February 15, 1958, informed a condolence message from secretary of Kilo Affairs, GPRN. “He had served the nation wholeheartedly with utmost sincerity and dedications in various capacities till his last breath. His demise has brought irreparable loss to the Naga nation leaving huge vacuum which shall be difficult to fill,” it stated. “The GPRN shall always cherish the steadfast commitment and sacrificial service he had rendered for the sacred cause.” It further expressed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to God to grant eternal peace and rest to the departed soul.
Vehicle parking rules in Wokha
Wokha, April 24 (DIPR): As per the resolution of the Wokha District Road Safety Committee meeting held on March 26, the following changes have been made in respect of parking of vehicles in and around Wokha Town. The following roads/locations have been designated as No Parking Zone: the road from Y junction (Assam Rifles) to main Bazaar, the road towards DC office main gate. Only two vehicles shall be allowed to park at a time in front of the entire taxi/bus counter and the remaining vehicles shall be allowed parking from old Aircel office towards Assam Rifles gate. All vehicles including commercial vehicles and auto-rickshaws parking in ‘No Parking Zone’ and violating traffic rules shall be strictly dealt with as per the provision of the Motor Vehicles Act. This order comes into force with immediate effect.
District website committee formed
Wokha, April 24 (DIPR): A committee to oversee implementation of on boarding of district website on S3 Waas for Wokha district has been constituted with the following members with immediate effect. Chairman – Deputy Commissioner, members – District Information Officer (Secretary), Superintendent of Police, SDO (C) Wokha, Project Director DRDA, DEO (education), Chief Medical Officer, District Welfare Officer, DPRO, District Statistical Officer and Tourism Officer.
Social work carried out in Tseminyu
Tseminyu, April 24 (DIPR): Tseminyu Town conducted the statewide social work under the supervision of the District Administration led by ADC, Theodore Yanthan and EAC, Er. Kevingoto on April 21. Officers and staff of all the departments and public of Tseminyu Town participated in the social work, where all the blocked drains in the town were cleared.
