Kohima, July 3 (MExN): A special edition of newsletter (volume 1, 3rd edition) on observation of Kisan Kalyan Karyashala by ATMA Zunheboto district was released at the Agriculture director’s office chamber. It was released by Ikuto Zhimo, Director of Agriculture in presence of Viliehu Nguzhu, Additional Director & HoD (Soil and Water Conservation).
Ikuto Zhimomi highlighted that the farmers of Nagaland in the mid 60’s practiced mono cropping, but today with the intervention of agri and allied departments they are mostly practicing mixed cropping and making handsome profit, said a press release from ATMA Zunheboto Project Director, K. Khekiho Shohe. Ikuto also stressed on the importance of documenting not only at the block level, but come up to the State level.
Words of encouragement to the ATMA functionaries were given by Vielichu Nguzhu. He advised ATMA functionaries to keep a keen sense of curiosity in field work.
K. Khekiho Shohe, PD, ATMA Zunheboto in his keynote address stated that ATMA Zunheboto is taking up case study on rejuvenation of alternative to Jhum cultivation and need to document success stories to be known to the ministry for supporting uphill farming system.
Chaired by Avitoli Yeptho, Deputy PD, ATMA Zunheboto, the programme was attended by senior HoDs, directors, officers of Agriculture and Soil and Water Conservation, and ATMA Zunheboto officials.
