Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur mourns the demise of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, a Maestro of Assamese Folk Music who carved a niche for himself in the music arena of India and the North East in particular. Director NEZCC, Som Kamei said that the demise of the legendary musician, who nurtured the folk music traditions of Assam and popularized the same the world-over, has created a great vacuum in the music world of Assam. He was the torch bearer of the rich cultural tradition of North East. NEZCC convey its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to Almighty God to give them strength and courage to bear this great loss.
