Kohima, June 21 (MExN): The ministry of culture, Government of India has introduced the Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme (GSPS) in the year 2004-2005 that has been implemented through the Zonal Cultural Centres to preserve and propagate rare and vanishing art forms where under this scheme, the young talented youths are nurtured to acquire skills in their chosen fields of art through some financial assistance by ZCC’s in the form of scholarship under the guidance of experts and masters.
The various arts which can be covered under Guru Shishya Parampara schemes includes folk music that requires preservation and nurturing, training in rare folks music and traditional musical instruments and folk songs & dances, crafts etc.
The Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme is extended in the identified art form, Honorarium/scholarship for the Guru - Rs. 5000/- per month and one accompanist Rs. 2500/- month, selected pupil would be given Rs. 1000/- month.
Interested experts/master in the field of traditional/folk arts may submit their applications with full bio-data to the Department of Art & Culture of their respective state for the 2011-2012 or directly to the Office of the Director, NEZCC P.O BOX 98. Dimapur 797112 and the age for the Guru should be between 45-88 and the last date for submission of the bio-data of the gurus will be on 20th July 2011.
