NF Railway celebrates 75th Republic Day

Maligaon, January 27 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway celebrated the 75thRepublic Day in a befitting manner. The central program was held at the NFRSA complex at Maligaon, where Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NF Railway unfurled the National Flag in presence of a gathering of railway officials and their family members. He also inspected march-past by contingents of RPF, Territorial Army, Civil Defence, and Bharat Scouts & Guides. 

The Republic Day was also celebrated in all the five Divisions of NF Railway viz. Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar, where the Divisional Railway Managers unfurled the National Flag in presence of Divisional railway officials. The General Manager while addressing the gathering congratulated all officers and staff who discharged their duties in the best possible way despite many adverse situations towards achieving the goals for overall development of railway. He also briefed about the performance of NF Railway achieved in the last few months.

On the occasion the General Manager inaugurated Extended and Renovated Intensive Care Unit and Renovated Major Operation Theatre Complex at the Central Hospital, Maligaon for the benefit of the patients. Shalini Shrivastava, President, NFRWWO inaugurated AYUSH & RELHS Clinic at Central Hospital, NF Railway, Maligaon.

The General Manager mentioned that 115 extra coaches have been attached permanently in 21 pairs of trains thus adding of 7812 berths. 966 coaches have been attached temporarily with 8pairs of trains and 565 trips of special trains have been run to clear the rush of passengers. He also mentioned about new stoppages provided at 20 stations to fulfill the demand of passengers and 14 coach restaurants have been made operational to further boost the hospitality sector. He also mentioned that 25.12 Million Tonnes of goods were unloaded upto December, 2023 in comparison to 24.19 Million Tonnes upto December, 2022, that is an increase of 3.84%. The General Manager also informed about train indication, coach indication boards and Integrated Passenger Information systems are now functional in 32 no’s of stations,  and 11 new terminals have been opened for handling of goods traffic as well as additional traffic & round the clock working has been initiated at 38  goods terminals.

For improvement of safety & operational efficiency, the General Manager further mentioned that 72 mail/express trains have been speeded up to maintain punctuality. Automatic Fire Detection & Alarm System has been commissioned at 58 stations and fire prevention system has been provided in 825 LHB coaches, 147 power cars&68 pantry cars. The General Manager further added that 141 km block section under NFR has been covered under Intrusion Detection System and 1687 no’s of elephants were saved since 2017.
