Maligaon, November 1 (MExN): A safety audit team from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has conducted an extensive review of the Visakhapatnam-Bobbili railway section to strengthen safety measures, stated a press release.
The audit was led by Uttam Prakash, Principal Chief Safety Officer of NFR, Maligaon, and covered key installations, stations, and level crossings under the Waltair division of South Coast Railway (SCoR).
The inter-zonal audit is a regular exercise designed to ensure strict compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines for safe train movement.
During the inspection, the multidisciplinary team examined critical infrastructure, including Curve No. 8 between PDT–KTV, the station yard at Kottavalasa, a major bridge between Alamanda and Korukonda, and an engineering-operated level crossing gate between Komatipalli and Donkinavalasa.
The audit also covered facilities at Bobbili Station, its relay room, the traction sub-station at Komatipalli, and the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) Cabin at Visakhapatnam, among others.
Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair division, interacted with the team and emphasised that such periodic inspections are vital for evaluating safety performance and identifying systemic gaps.
The findings will be compiled into a detailed report, followed by an action-taken report to be submitted to the Ministry of Railways for further analysis and directives.
