NF Railway electrifies 45.00% of network

Maligaon, November 20 (MExN): NF Railway is moving forward with the aim towards 100% electrification of un-electrified Broad Gauge routes of the zone. In an endeavour for complete electrification, NF Railway has achieved electrification of 1956.63RKM (Route Kilometres) which is 45.00% of total 4348RKM of the network, as part of its target of achieving net zero carbon emission. 

In the North-eastern states, remaining route of2391.38 km are to be electrified yet. Out of the total electrified routes in North-eastern region, 910.45 km in Assam, 9.58 Km in Meghalaya and 6.00 Km in Nagaland have already been electrified. Moreover, 285.87 km in Bihar and 744.726 km in West Bengal have already been electrified under the jurisdiction of NF Railway. 

Recently, three sections at NF Railway has been inspected upon completion of electrification works in the state of Assam. The sections are Badarpur- Silchar (29.60 RKM), Badarpur- Baraigram (41.77 RKM) & Baraigram-Dullabcherra (27.00 RKM). For further speeding up the electrification works, Indian Railway Construction International Limited (IRCON), Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), NFR/Construction and Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) have been executing the electrification works in a phased manner in different sections overthe zone.
