NF Railway to install lifts & escalators

Maligaon, June 21 (MExN): The NF Railway will be providing lifts in many important stations across the zone. A press note informed that in the first phase, as many as 7 lifts would be provided, which are targeted for commissioning by September, 2018. Of these, 2 lifts will be provided at New Jalpaiguri, 1 at Katihar, 1 at New Coochbehar, 3 at Guwahati, 2 at Lumding & 1 at Tinsukia.   In the second phase as many as 12 lifts are planned to be provided, which are targeted for commissioning by October, 2018. Of these, 2 lifts will be provided at Kishanganj, 2 at Katihar, 2 at New Coochbehar, 3 at Guwahati, 2 at Kamakhya, 2 at Lumding, 1 at Tinsukia & 2 at Dibrugarh. Railway Board has also sanctioned 24 another lifts which are to be provided at important stations of the zone.   These lifts which would facilitate the movement of passengers from the platform level to the Foot Over Bridge. “They would be very useful for aged and Divyang passengers who find in difficult to climb the steps in order to cross over from one platform to another,” the press note stated. It added that the lifts would have capacity of 11 persons & will be functional round the clock with uninterrupted power supply.   It was also mentioned that while 2 escalators are functional in NF Railway, 1 at Guwahati & 1 at New Jalpaiguri, the zone is planning to provide another 18 escalators in different stations. Of these 2 would be provided at New Jalpaiguri, 2 at New Coochbehar, 2 at Rangiya, 2 at Guwahati, 2 at Katihar, 2 at New Tinsukia, 2 at Kishanganj, 2 at Lumding & 2 at Kamakhya Stations. All the escalators are targeted for commissioning by December, 2018.   Celebrates International Yoga Day The International Yoga day was celebrated today at the NF Railway Indoor stadium, Maligaon in presence of large numbers of staff, officials and their families. The event was inaugurated jointly by Sanjiv Roy, General Manager, NF Railway and NK Prasad, General Manager / Construction / NF Railway by lighting the lamp. Inaugurating the programme, the General Manager highlighted the beneficial effects of Yoga in day to day life and appealed to all railwaymen to practice yoga to maintain good health. Art of Living Foundation, Guwahati was involved in the programme where their instructor conducted the mass yoga session for the participants.
