NF Railway observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

To mark the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the NFR has set up exhibition stalls, hoardings and photographs at railway stations.

MALIGAON, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), along with the rest of the country, observed the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as part of the dark phase the nation went through at several railway stations under its jurisdiction.

To mark the occasion, exhibition stalls, hoardings and photographs displaying the pain undergone by Indians due to the partition of India in 1947 were put up, a press release issued by CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated. 

Different programmes have been organised at the NFR Headquarter in Maligaon and Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, SiliguriJn, Balurghat, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, Falakata, New Mal Jn, Kokrajhar, RangiyaJn, Barpeta Road, New BongaigaonJn, Goalpara Town, Rangapara North, Gohpur, Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Agartala, Dimapur, Jorhat Town, MarianiJn, North Lakhimpur, Dibrugarhand New Tinsukia stations. 

Partition pain can never be forgotten. Millions of Indians were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. The observance of this day will help remind everyone, especially the young school children who attended the exhibition to remove social division and disharmony, further strengthening the spirit of oneness, the press release added.
