Maligaon, December 16 (MExN): In a bid to maintain railway tracks in ideal condition and provide a safe and comfortable journey to rail passengers, NF Railway has undertaken several track renewal works.
During November 2023, Through Sleeper Renewal of 21.29 TKM has been done making a cumulative progress of 125.73 TKM from April to November of this current financial year. This is 24.89% higher than the corresponding period of the last year. Through Rail Renewal of 29.05 TKM have been done during the month making a cumulative progress of 212.5 TKM upto the month. Through Turnout Renewals of 25 equivalent sets have been done during the month making a cumulative progress of 142 equivalent sets upto the month. This is 16.39% higher than the corresponding period of the last year. Welding of 2950 numbers of rail joints has been done by using Flash Butt welding method and a total of 0.61 lakh cubic metre of ballast has been inserted in the railway track during the month. This is 14.64% higher than the corresponding period of the last year.
Moreover, 1843.09 kilometres of track have been tested by USFD (Ultra Sonic Flaw Detection) machine during November 2023 making a cumulative progress of 13971.17 kilometres upto the month. USFD technique is carried out to detect flaws like cracks and timely removal of defective rails for safety, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
