NFA signs MoU; to start Nagaland Premier League

Kohima | July 29 : Good news for football lovers of Nagaland. Finally, the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) today signed MoU with a Sports Management firm- “442 management” for Nagaland Premier Football League, which will start by the end of this year. The MoU was signed by NFA president Atuo Mezhur and 442 managing partner Asalie Peseyie at Hotel Japfu here this evening.
Speaking at the function, Mezhur informed that with the signing of MoU, the Nagaland Premier League will be conducted very soon, adding that clubs will be formed in different parts of the state. The Nagaland Premier League, which is longing for many years, will be kicked off this year, NFA president said.
He called upon the respective district sports associations to come forward and help NFA and 442 Management for conducting the matches. He stated with the signing of MoU, the clubs have to get register with NFA, for which a notification to this effect will be issued soon. He hoped that with the introduction of State Premium League, Nagaland will able to produce professional football players to compete in the national and international arena.
He said when the proposal for Nagaland Premier League came from 442 Management, the NFA accepted it delightedly, however, it took months to study properly and as a result the MOU was signed today. Asalie Peseyie, managing partner of 442 said that with its view that football being the most popular sports in the state and also the sport which the state have the most potential in, 442 has taken this new venture of Nagaland’s first and official football league as the first step to achieve its many goal.
“A league where we provide a platform for our talented players who we have in abundance, to grow and perform consistently which results in them finding bigger and better opportunities as the league continue to grow,” Peseyie said.
Also stating that the league will create a viable market which in turn brings about additional tourism, helps with employment and creates a sector for entrepreneurs to invest in, he said “We are sincere in all our efforts and we pray and hope to have the support of the entire state as well feel this league can have a positive impact on our society.”
Another 442 managing partner Yudang Ao said that 10 clubs will be part of the Nagaland Premier League at the initial stage and it will be increased the following years. He hoped that 442 would able to begin the State Premium Football League sometime in November after completion of registration of clubs and other formalities.
