NFHRCC reaffirms 30 days deadline given to State Govt

Dimapur, August 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), on August 16, has affirmed its August 7 “Press Statement/Memorandum” giving the State Government a 30-day deadline to respond positively with regard to the Foothills Road project.

Among others, the NFHRCC then demanded a positive response from the State Government within specific time regarding its appeal to “maintain the (Foothills) road pliable while waiting for the “Proposed Mega project of the Trans Nagaland Expressway as per the Governments source.”

Stating that the Committee having exhausted all necessary means available, it then cautioned that if the State Government does not give ‘positive response,’ it would “be compelled to resort to any appropriate means.”

On August 16, the same “Press Statement/Memorandum” was reaffirmed and adopted during an NFHRCC’s consultative with Dimapur based Tribal Hohos, Students’ bodies and Central Nagaland Students’ Association meeting at Hotel Saramati.

The NFHRCC and Tribal Hohos/Students’ bodies also unanimously resolved to “go for an indefinite agitation as a course of action” if the State Government does not respond positively, asserted a press release issued by the NFHRCC’s Convenor, Supu Jamir; General Secretary, W Lemba Chang, General Secretary; and Asst.General Secretary, Chenithung Humtsoe.

With regard to the press statement issued by the Rising People Party’s (RPP) on the issue, the August 16 meeting also noted that neither “official communication nor discussion as such has been made till date,” but appreciated the Party’s concerns.
