DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 26 (MExN): A joint consultative meeting of the 12 Dimapur based tribal hohos/unions with the Nagaland Foothill Roads Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) was held on October 26 at the NFHRCC office, Kher Mahal, Dimapur.
The meeting was held in the backdrop of the letter from the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) issued on October 16, which stated that the department could not involve the NFHRCC in the allocation of works or enter into any tripartite agreements.
According to a press release issued by NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir, co-convenor Hokiye Yepthomi, general secretary W. Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe, the meeting resolved that the Nagaland PWD should consult or take into board the Committee for any decision taken with regard to the Foothills Road Construction Project.
Further, the house also reiterated that the project will not be allowed to be politicised in any circumstances as resolved in 2013. It stated that the hohos/unions will not remain a silent spectator while asserting that the “hohos are fully prepared to safeguard the foothills road project through any means.”
