NFHRCC resolves on Foothill Road

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) had a year ending meeting today and adopted several resolutions to with regard to the ‘Naga Historical Survival Foothills Road.’   A press note from the NFHRCC informed that “some NPGs were attempting to levy tax to the contractor,” and in this regard the committee made clear that “no NPGs are neither allowed nor permitted to levy any tax as per the understanding arrived between the NFHRCC and the NPGs.”   It also appealed to the NPGs irrespective of their positions, rank and status to reaffirm the understanding that had arrived earlier between them at the time of the commencement of the historic project in 2013.   “Further the NFHRCC stands very clear that any form of taxation levy by any group will be treated as against the integrity of the Nagas,” the committee said.   As per the latest information received by the committee the construction works had already been resumed which is much appreciated, the NFHRCC said. Therefore, the committee requested the contractor and the site workers to co-operate with the team as and when they are visiting the construction spot.   It also resolved to routinely visit and inspect the ongoing construction works at the Doyang Bridge side.   Meanwhile, the NFHRCC, while appreciating the present government for their concern for the project, appealed that work orders in regards to the remaining uncut portions be issued soon as assured by the R&B Minister and the Chief Minister.
