NFI to observe IYD with focus on sustainable innovations 

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): On the occasion of the International Youth Day (IYD) 2023 which falls on August 12, the National Foundation of India (NFI) is organizing a daylong event featuring talks, cultural activities, exhibition, food stalls and music band. 

The event is being hosted by CanYouth, a not-for-profit organization that works for children, adolescents, youths & women especially focusing on dropouts. The venue will be at Don Bosco Institute of Development and Leadership (DBIDL), River Belt Colony, Dimapur, a press release issued by the National Foundation of India informed. 

The activities are curated to cater this year’s theme of International Youth Day, ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a sustainable world.’  The event will bring together young citizens of Dimapur to promote cultural and traditional sustainable practices. The primary objective of the event is to provide a platform for the youth in Dimapur to learn and share ideas around sustainable innovations and contribute to the process of developing an economically sustainable society. 

The plenary session will host three distinctive trendsetters of Nagaland. Vitono Gugu Haralu (Radio Jockey, spokesperson and secretary of Exotic Echo Society), who will speak on Naga Loinloom: Inter-generational Woven Fabric; Gihukali Chishi (Technical Incharge at NASTEC under the department of Science &Technology, Kohima) will present Intellectual Property and Youth: Role of Youth in Intellectual Property Rights and Niksungla Jamir (State Coordinator for State PMU, Swaach Bharat Mission-Urban; Founder-Chairman of Living For Environment, LiFE) will talk on Green Youth. 

Exhibition of upcoming local artists, crafts persons, and artisans will display their innovative products. Local caterers and bakers will open their stalls alongside the exhibition. This will provide social networking activities among the entrepreneurs and the attendants. A major highlight of the event is the performance of live musical bands Peppermint, NOTION, and The Gluttones, the press release added. 

Towards this, open invitation is extended to all those who are interested to be part of the event and contribute positively towards sustainable Dimapur. The event is co-funded by the European Union’s for the project #LeavingNoOneBehind.
