Maligaon, December 3 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented a 100% biometric Sign-On/Sign-Off system for all Ticket Checking Staff across 22 TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) lobbies in its five divisions, an official release stated.
The system is fully functional at major stations including Katihar, Kishanganj, Alipurduar Junction, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya Junction, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Dibrugarh Town, and New Tinsukia, setting a new benchmark and marking a significant step toward digitisation and operational efficiency, it added.
The system is designed to ensure transparency and accountability in staff movement, attendance, and duty compliance, the release said.
NFR further noted that the biometric attendance system has strengthened ticket checking operations by allowing real-time monitoring and better deployment of staff for train manning and onboard duties.
This, it added, has improved discipline, punctuality, and service delivery, while also reducing ticketing irregularities and increasing window ticket sales, thereby boosting revenue.
Meanwhile, to ensure smooth functioning, the NFR informed that dedicated teams at both Divisional and Zonal Headquarters continuously monitor the biometric installations and real-time data from all lobbies.
NFR said it remains committed to leveraging advanced digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, improve passenger services, and boost revenue
