NFR enhances train speed & safety by removing speed restrictions

Maligaon, January 19 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented measures to enhance the speed and safety of train operations across its network. This includes the removal of both temporary and permanent speed restrictions where feasible, as well as increasing the speed of train movement through loop lines in various sections. These steps have improved overall train speeds, punctuality, and passenger services.

By December 2024, the NFR successfully removed or relaxed 10 permanent speed restrictions (PSRs). To achieve this, the engineering team made adjustments to track geometry, reduced curvature, and leveled bridges, ensuring smoother tracks and eliminating abrupt changes in gradients. This accomplishment highlights the dedication and efforts of NFR’s engineering team.

Currently, 44 temporary speed restrictions (TSRs) remain across the NFR network. Efforts to enhance speed and safety involve comprehensive infrastructure upgrades, including track renewals, bridge strengthening, curve easing, and improvements to the signaling system.
