NFR extends services of three more special trains

Maligaon, March 30 (MExN): In a bid to clear the extra rush of passengers, it has been decided to continue the services of three pairs special trains upto June, 2024 for a total 78 trips. These trains will run with the existing days of service, timings and stoppages, Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated in a press release. 

Accordingly, Train No. 02502 (Agartala-Kolkata) special will now run for 13 trips on every Wednesday from April 3 to June 26. In return direction, train No. 02501 (Kolkata-Agartala) special will now run for 13 trips on every Sunday from April 7 to June 30.
Train No. 05639 (Silchar - Kolkata) special will now run for 13 trips on every Thursday from April 4 to June 27. In return direction, train No. 05640 (Kolkata-Silchar) special will now run for 13 trips on every Friday from April 5 to June 28.

Train No. 02518 (Guwahati-Kolkata) special will now run for 13 trips on every Saturday from April 6 to June 29. In return direction, train No. 02517 (Kolkata-Guwahati) special will now run for 13 trips on every Thursday from April 4 to June 27.

Details of stoppages and timings of these trains are available at IRCTC website and passengers are requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.

Railway Protection Force apprehends four thieves  
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway, while conducting regular checks and drives within the zone from March 23 to 26 apprehended four persons involved in theft of passengers’ belongings. During this check at different stations and trains, they successfully recovered valuables worth approximately Rs 1.03 lakh from trains and railway stations at Guwahati, New Bongaigaon, Barsoi, Panjipara etc. All the apprehended persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP for further legal actions.

In a recent incident on March 26, RPF and GRP of Barsoi jointly conducted checking at Barsoi Railway Station and apprehended one person with two stolen mobile phones worth around Rs. 30 thousand. On the same day, RPF team of Guwahati conducted a checking at Guwahati railway station and apprehended one person with one stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 10,000.

On March 25, RPF team of Kishanganj jointly with CPDS team of Katihar conducted a checking at Panjipara railway station and apprehended one person and recovered one stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 60,000.

On March 23, RPF team of New Bongaigaon jointly with CPDS team of Rangiya conducted a checking at New Bongaigaon railway station and apprehended one person and recovered one stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 3000.

During February, 2024, RPF of NFR arrested 34 persons involved in theft of passengers’ belongings. All the apprehended persons along with the recovered valuables were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP for further legal actions.

“RPF of NF Railway always ready to provide services to extend guidance and assistance to the rail users besides their task of ensuring security to the passengers. Railway passengers can dial 139 (Toll-free) if they come across any problem during their train journey,” Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated in a press release.
