Maligaon, September 13 (MExN): Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), carried out an extensive safety inspection at Lumding today.
Accompanied by senior officials from both the headquarters and division, Shrivastava assessed the operational efficiency, infrastructure developments, and overall functioning of the railway network in the division.
The inspection commenced with a visit to the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) base at Lumding, where the readiness of the forces to handle potential security threats was reviewed. Shrivastava then proceeded to inspect the Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) shed and the pit line at Lumding railway station. He also examined a newly introduced DEMU rake, featuring a new color scheme designed to significantly reduce maintenance time.
Additionally, the GM interacted with the Ultrasonic Flaw Detection (USFD) team responsible for rail and weld testing and engaged with the Permanent Way (P. Way) gang overseeing turnout maintenance to ensure track infrastructure is in top condition.
Following the inspections, Shrivastava held a meeting with all divisional officers at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office. He reviewed the division’s performance, encouraged staff to uphold high standards of service and safety, and visited ongoing developmental projects at Lumding Station, including the Amrit Station initiative aimed at upgrading passenger amenities and infrastructure.
The day concluded with a rear window trailing inspection of the Lumding - Hojai section, where Shrivastava evaluated track conditions and operational performance.
