NFR holds 95th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee meeting

Guwahati, November 8 (MExN): With the objective of having direct interaction with representatives from various sections of society and railway users for further improvement in all sectors of railway related services, the 95th meeting of the ZRUCC (Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee) was held at on November 8.

The meeting at the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Officers’ Club, Maligaon was attended by 26 ZRUCC members, including the Member of Parliaments (Lok Sabha) Topon Kumar Gogoi and Khagen Murmu and representatives from various stake holders from all over NFR. 

The ZRUCC members comprised of MPs, MLAs, high officials from the Transport department of various states, various passenger associations, merchants associations, chamber of commerce bodies and special interest groups etc from various North-eastern states apart from West Bengal and Bihar. 

The Railway side was represented by NFR General Manager, Anshul Gupta, and Additional General Manager Rahul Gautam along with senior railway officials of the Headquarters, informed a press release from the NFR CPRO Guneet Kaur.

Gupta while welcoming all members to the meeting urged them to put forward their suggestion on each and every field of railway related services and assured that the suggestios would be given due importance by the railway authorities, it said. 

He also informed that various connectivity works are going on for further improvement of rail connectivity to capitals of the North-eastern states. 

New goods terminals are being opened and round the clock working has been introduced at various goods sheds to facilitate local traders and businessmen and to boost local economy while various customer-friendly initiatives are also being provided, Gupta said.

These included 50% subsidy for transportation of few commodities through Kisan Rail; online transaction facilities for ticket and freight booking; purchasing of railway ticket through UTS mobile app; more catering services at various stations etc, he added. 

There were detailed discussions on various issues of importance like resumption of local trains, additional stoppages of trains, improvement of passenger amenities and security at stations and in trains etc, the release said. 

The Indian Railway has systems in place like DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee) and ZRUCC which meet regularly for deliberations and exchange of views on various issues pertaining to passenger amenities, cleanliness, catering, punctuality etc, it added.
