NFR introduces initiatives to improve customer interface

Maligaon, December 13 (MExN): The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has opened more stations t handle outward and inward goods traffic during the month of November 2022, Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi De informed on Tuesday.

To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, New Mal Jn station under Alipurduar division has been opened for handling of inward Iron & Steel Consignment (Crane Consignment) with effect from November 2. 

Similarly, Agthori station under Lumding division has been opened for handling of inward NMG rake for a period of three months from November 7. Chongajan station under Lumding division has also been opened for handling of outward coal traffic from November 9. Earlier, it was opened for handling of both outward and inward RMC and for handling of outward stone chips/boulder traffic for a period of three months from September 28.

The release stated that Mohitnagar goods shed under Katihar division division has been opened for handling of both outward & inward B.F. Slag and Clinker traffic from November 11. . Lamsakhang station under Lumding division has been opened for handling of outward coal traffic from November 17.

Further, Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service, a Joint Parcel Product (JPP) of India Post and Railways has been launched with the objectives to expand the model of ‘Rail Post Gati Shakti.’ Over NFR two originating and destination pairs for JPP extension has been identified between Howrah to Guwahati and New Delhi to Guwahati. With the implementation of JPP transportation of parcel from originating and to destination can be done in seamless and speedy way benefitting traders as well as common people, the release stated.

Improvement of customer interface and opening of new terminals leads to increase loading and unloading of freight trains. As a result of which revenue of NFR will significantly grow in the coming years, it added.
