NFR organises free eye screening camp

Maligaon, November 10 (MExN): A Free Eye Screening Camp was organised by the Central Hospital of Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon in association with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati on November 8 at the Headquarters’ Health Unit premises. The camp was organised specially for the benefit of railway employees and their family members, the NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Guneet Kaur informed in a press release on Wednesday. 

As per the release, the camp was inaugurated by the NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta in presence of other dignitaries. During the eye screening camp, a total of 96 patients were examined out of which 90% were serving employees. During examination, 35 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and 14 patients were found with dry eyes. Glaucoma and fundus evaluation was done for 4 patients, it stated.

Among the beneficiaries of the camp, persons with eye-ailments were given due preference for eye-screening. Persons suspected or diagnosed with eye-aliments such as cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, diabetic retinopathy etc., were counselled and special counseling was provided to persons above 40 years of age with known history of diabetes, the release stated.

A series of wellness camps including eye screening camps have been planned all over the NFR zone to commemorate the monumental occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, it added.
