NFR PCEE conducts statutory inspection of Agartala-Sabroom

Maligaon, February 22 (MExN): The Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) conducted a statutory inspection of the Agartala-Sabroom section of the Lumding Division on February 22.

This inspection marks a major milestone in the approval process for introducing commercial services under 25 KV electric traction. Spanning 112.91 RKM and 135.40 TKM on a single-line (UP/DN) section, this electrification project is crucial for improving railway operations. The statutory inspection by the PCEE is a mandatory prerequisite to ensure safety and operational compliance before commencing full-scale commercial train services under electric traction.

The electrification of this section includes key electrical infrastructure such as Sub-Sectioning and Paralleling Posts at Bishramganj, Santirbazar, and Jolaibarias well as a Traction Substation at Udaipur. These installations play a critical role in ensuring a stable and efficient power supply for train operations in the region.

The electrification of the Agartala-Sabroom section is a key initiative under Indian Railways' broader vision to enhance operational efficiency, reduce fossil fuel dependency and minimize environmental impact. Transitioning to electric traction will significantly lower carbon emissions, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to diesel locomotives. This was stated in a press release issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
