Maligaon, February 7 (MExN): As a part of Government of India’s Digital India initiative, Northeast Frontier Railway is further promoting cashless transaction. Indian Railways have made efforts to enhance digital transactions as per policy of the Government of India by implementing cashless counters at few nominated Passenger Reservation System with digital payment mode. With every passing day, the cashless transaction is becoming popular among passengers.
In Northeast Frontier Railway from Rs 1.8 lakh (0.87% of total across the counter transactions) on January 30, it has now come to Rs 3.78 lakh (2.67%) on February 3 which shows steady improvement to facilitate payment through UPI and POS.
“Passengers are being made aware of cashless transaction in various reservation counters over NF Railway and are adapting the initiative taken by Government of India by booking their tickets through online method. They are thankful to the government for such initiative for the development of our country,” Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated in a release.
The contribution of cashless transaction from January 31 to February 2 in Passenger Reservation System located over NF Railway in 5 divisions at few Railway stations are New Tinsukia-53.01%, Dibrugarh Town-15.74%, Guwahati-73.05%, Kamakhya-17.04%, Dimapur-07.77%, Rangiya-33.93%, New Bongaigaon-05%, Alipurduar-60.86%, New Coochbehar-02.83%, Katihar-18.41% & New Jalpaiguri- 06.49%.
