Maligaon, August 5 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Wednesday announced the operation of examination special trains for Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) candidates while issuing fresh advisories on train cancellations, rescheduling and diversions due to track restoration work and flood-related disruptions.
To facilitate candidates appearing for the RRB examinations and manage the anticipated rise in passenger traffic, Indian Railways will operate Train No. 08181/08182 Tatanagar-Rampur Bazar-Tatanagar Examination Special.
Train No. 08181 Tatanagar-Rampur Bazar Examination Special will run daily from Tatanagar at 7.30 pm from August 3 to 6 and August 9 to 14, while Train No. 08182 Rampur Bazar-Tatanagar Examination Special will depart Rampur Bazar at 10 am from August 4 to 7 and August 10 to 15. Each service will complete 10 trips.
The train will have 16 coaches and stop at Kharagpur Junction, Andul, Dankuni, Barddhaman Junction, Bolpur Shantiniketan, Rampur Hat, Pakur, New Farakka Junction, Malda Town, Eklakhi, Buniadpur and Gangarampur.
Meanwhile, NFR said restoration work is continuing near New Harangajao station following the settlement of tracks on Lines 1 and 2. Train operations on the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section are being maintained through Line-3 with enhanced safety measures.
In view of the restoration work, Train Nos. 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express (August 6) and 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express (August 7) have been cancelled.
Several trains have also been rescheduled on August 6, including 15650 Narangi-Agartala Express (10.30 pm), 15649 Agartala-Narangi Express (11.30 pm), 15609 Guwahati-Sairang Express (11.30 pm), 15610 Sairang-Guwahati Express (9.30 pm), 15611 Rangiya-Silchar Express (11.30 pm), 14619 Agartala-Firozpur Cantt Express (11.30 pm), while 15612 Silchar-Rangiya Express and 15608 Silchar-Thiruvananthapuram Central Express will depart on August 7 at 5 am and 4.10 am, respectively.
Additionally, Train No. 12503 SMVT Bengaluru-Agartala Express, which commenced its journey on August 4, will be regulated en route.
Separately, NFR said incessant rainfall and flooding at Simaluguri and adjoining areas in Assam's Sibsagar district have further affected train services.
As a result, Rajdhani Expresses (12423 and 20503) from Dibrugarh to New Delhi on August 6 will be diverted via North Lakhimpur, Rangapara North, Rangiya, Guwahati and New Bongaigaon.
Other diverted trains include 15909 Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express, 22504 Dibrugarh-Kanniyakumari Vivek Express and 15959 Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express.
In the reverse direction, 22503 Kanniyakumari-Dibrugarh Express, 12424 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, 15910 Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express, 20504 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express and 22501 SMVT Bengaluru-New Tinsukia Express will also operate on diverted routes.
The 15669 Guwahati-Dibrugarh Nagaland Express commencing its journey on August 5 will terminate at Mariani and remain cancelled between Mariani and Dibrugarh. The 15670 Dibrugarh-Guwahati Nagaland Express on August 6 will originate from Mariani and remain cancelled between Dibrugarh and Mariani.
Among the trains cancelled due to flooding are 55913/55914 Jorhat Town-Tinsukia Passenger, 75602/75601 Tinsukia-Lumding DEMU, 15603 Guwahati-Ledo Intercity Express, 15604 Ledo-Guwahati Intercity Express, 15967/15968 Ledo-Rangiya Passenger and 55909/55910 Simaluguri-Dibrugarh Passenger.
NFR said engineering teams led by senior railway officials are working round the clock to restore services in the flood-affected sections at the earliest while ensuring passenger safety.
