Maligaon, August 17 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway's Safety Department has undertaken various tasks to improve safe train operations from time to time.

 

Nripen Bhattachayya, Public Relations Officer, NFR in a press release stated the department has been conducting safety seminars, mock drills, life demonstration of safe train operations, training of safety counselors, loco pilots, guards, carriage and wagon staff, track maintainers and organizing timely inspection of different sections of greater NF Railway.

 

A video conference on safe train operations was also organized on August 16 at NFR Headquarters, Maligaon where General Manager, Sanjive Roy along with the heads of all departments were present and all the Divisional Railway Managers of Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia divisions were connected by video link.

 

Roy discussed with the NFR heads and DRMs about the safe, smooth and timely train operations. He gave valuable suggestions and expressed that no lapses be there in safety.

 

A safety handbook based on “Guidelines for Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry-2019” was also released by General Manager.

 

These Guidelines provide a check list of Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry. The information would prove to be useful in the event of a serious accident for arranging Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry.

 

The handbook was formulated and prepared under the guidance of Pradip Kumar Hira, Deputy Chief Safety Officer, Mechanical, NFR.

 

The aim of the book was to make readers know about the instructions, rules and regulations, inquiry procedures, check list of Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry and many more valuable and important knowledge and ideas of safety inquiry, which can be helpful at the time of Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry.

 

This book has a role of almost every department like Operating, Commercial, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Medical, Singnal and Telecommunication, Public Relation Department and Personal Department etc.

 

General Manger, Sanjive Roy gave different suggestions on Commissioner of Railway Safety Inquiry to officers and other staffs from different departments during release of the book. He appreciated the Safety Department for taking step in producing the safety book.
