Maligaon, September 22 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the operation of 23 pairs (46 trains) of Festival Special trains to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals.

These special services will run between September and December 2025. The trains are scheduled to connect key destinations including Katihar, Sonpur, Dauram Madhepura, Agartala, New Tinsukia, SMVT Bengaluru, Amritsar, Patna, Dibrugarh, Gorakhpur, Silchar, Kolkata, and Guwahati.

The services will operate on daily, weekly, and tri-weekly bases as per notified schedules.

In addition to running its own trains, the NFR will also facilitate the movement of passengers by operating special trains owned by other Zonal Railways that connect to and from the NFR region. These include services on routes such as Mumbai-Katihar, Bengaluru-Narangi, Anand Vihar-Jogbani, and Howrah-Lumding.

Passengers are advised to check the detailed train timings, stoppages, and coach composition from official railway sources before finalizing their travel plans, stated a press release issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
