NFR traces 528 phones via CEIR Portal

Maligaon, April 15 (MExN): Between April 20, 2024, and April 7, 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully traced 528 mobile phones with the help of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

The proactive efforts by the NFR led to this significant result, helping enhance passenger safety as well as recover valuable assets, informed a press release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO).

Out of the total, 109 devices were recovered through coordinated efforts by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and relevant authorities, it said.

In addition, 21 individuals involved in the theft or illegal possession of mobile phones were arrested, it added.

The recovered mobile phones were returned to their rightful owners, reflecting the system’s effectiveness and the commitment of the NFR to public service, the release said.

Meanwhile, the NFR encouraged passengers to report any lost or stolen mobile phones through Rail Madad and conveyed its assurance to protect passenger interests and ensure secure travel experiences.
