NFR transports more than 2144 inbound freight trains

Says maintaining supply of essential and other commodities in its jurisdiction

 

Guwahati, July 4 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has transported more than 2144 inbound freight trains from March 25 to June 30, an official release informed today. 


Out of this, 844 freight were unloaded during the month of June and 770 were in May, showing a “significant increase of about 10%,” stated the release issued by NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda.


Goods like FCI rice, Sugar, Salt, Edible oil, POL, Food grains, Fodder, Pulses, Fertilizer, Cement, Coal, Stone chips, Iron/Steal, Potato, Onion, Sand, Gypsum, Maize, Pulses, Auto, Container etc were being transported regularly, it said. 


Such huge transportation of food-grains and other items by the NFR helped in avoiding any scarcity within its service area which includes all the NE states and a major portion of West Bengal and Bihar during the current pandemic situation, it added. 


The freight loaded rakes were mainly un-loaded at various goods sidings like Dimapur, Jiribam, Bhairabi, Jirania, Dharmanagar, Udaipur, Katihar, Kishanganj, Purnea, Jogbani, Jalalgarh, Bathnaha, Malda Court, New Jalpaiguri, Rangapani, New Cooch Behar, Falakata, Hasimara, Dhupguri, Dalkolha, Bhalukpong, New Guwahati, Changsari, Azara, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Rangiya, Silapathar, Dhemaji, Dekargaon, Gumto, Harmuti, Lanka, North Lakhimpur, Tangla, Haibargaon, Salchapra, Bokajan, Jagiroad, Furkating, Jorhat Town, Duliajan, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh etc.
