The freight movement during the month included essential and industrial commodities such as food grains, food-grade items, fertilisers, sugar, coal, salt, petroleum tank wagons, and other goods, which were handled at various goods sheds across the zone.

Among the North-East states, Assam accounted for the highest unloading with 593 rakes, including 317 carrying essential commodities. Tripura recorded 99 rakes, followed by Nagaland with 32, Arunachal Pradesh with 20, Manipur with 14, and Mizoram with 8.

Outside the Northeast but within NFR’s jurisdiction, West Bengal recorded the unloading of 203 rakes, while Bihar accounted for 166 rakes, informed press release from the CPRO NFR.

NFR said the movement of essential and industrial goods remains critical in meeting public needs and supporting economic activities across the region.

Close monitoring and coordinated efforts by field units have helped improve turnaround time and unloading efficiency, strengthening freight operations across the zone, it added.
