Maligaon, August19 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Tuesday said its Rangiya division has achieved 100% electrification, enabling environment-friendly and cost-efficient train operations in the region.

According to an official release, electrification of the double-line sections between Chaparmukh–Hojai down line (45.69 TKM) and Dudhnai–Azara second line (99.32 TKM) has been completed, marking full electrification of the division.

NFR stated that the Rajdhani Express is now running on electric traction via the Rangiya–Rangapara route up to Dibrugarh, while the New Delhi–Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express has been operating with end-to-end electric traction via New Tinsukia since June 2025.

With 28 trains now running fully on electric traction, 12 diesel locomotives have been released from service, it informed, adding that this has resulted in fuel savings and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The zone reiterated its commitment to expand electrification and green energy initiatives across its network.
