H. Ngaopulou and Vekholhulu were declared winners of the 4th edition Kalos Peace Marathon in men's and women's category respectively held at Pfutsero in Phek district on November 3.
This event was organized by Kalos Society in collaboration with Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) under the theme "Rhythm of health.”
The half marathon started at Sakraba for men’s 21 km (half-marathon) and women’s 15 km (half-marathon) from Porba and culminated at Sports Complex Pfutsero.
The event saw 162 participants (100 men and 62 women) from various district of Nagaland including Manipur.
21 year old Ngaopulou from Liyai Khunou village under Senapati district of Manipur finished the 21 kilometre run at 1 hour 16 minute to take the title for men's category.
Ngaopulou had recently won gold medal for 5000 meter race and 10,000 in the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games.
M. Nohching Chang who finished at 1 hour 19 minute and Cuvoto Medeo at 1 hour 23 minute stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Epenthe Yanphar (1 hour 30 minute) Thupusuh Chuzho (1 hour 33 minute) bagged 4th and 5th position respectively.
The consolation winners included; Wecheku Mekrisuh, Jackson Yanphar, Venyi Keyho, Munguhu Dozo, Richard Khing, Necukho Rhakho, Surhoyi Khamo, Kheuho Ngatsi, Khruvoto Theluo and Vecusu Lohe.
For women's category, Vekholhulu bettered her own record who had won her the second position in the last 3rd edition.
She came back stronger to take the title finishing 15 kilometers at 1 hour 22 minutes.
Veshenie Vadeo (1 hour 24 minute) and Vecusulu Chotso (1 hour 26 minute) stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Mary Chuzho (1: 27 minutes) and Krowetshou Kapfo (1:27 minutes) stood 4th and 5th position respectively.
The consolation winners were Vewute-u Lasuh, Etalu Ruho, Letsho-u Marhu, Ruyilu Kezo, Saphilu Khesoh, Eneibe-u Lohe, Neichete-u Thele, Chozino Vadeo, Wetu-u Puro and Neishou Lasuh.
The champions for both men and women category received Rs 15,000 each.
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position winners awarded with Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7000, Rs. 5000 and Rs 3000 each.
Ten consolation winners received Rs. 1000 each in both categories.
Earlier, CWA president Vekhozo and Chakhesang Mother’s Association president Zhonelu Tunyi flagged off the event.
