NGHSSEA supports NSF and ENSF demand for tax exemption for teachers

The Nagaland Government Higher Secondary Employees Association express its displeasure and unhappiness the abduction of two teachers in-charge at Government Primary School Hanku and Niropen under Wokha district on April 12 by some National Workers. The Association is shocked and appalled by such drastic and extreme steps taken by some members of Naga National Groups and urged the all Naga National Groups to desist from taking similar measures in the future.

While appreciating the sincere efforts of the NSF and the ENSF for undertaking such an arduous tasks for the welfare of the Teaching community in the State, the Association also makes this appeal to all Naga National Groups to consider the genuine demands of the Teaching community for tax exemption as echoed by the two student bodies for the sake of the future generations and also to foster progress especially in the field of education

The Association is seriously disturbed by the consistent harassment and intimidation meted out to the School Principals and staffs by members of Naga National Groups on tax related issue. In spite of numerous limitations, the teachers has been providing yeoman service to the society, but under such an environment of stress, fear and harassment it would be difficult for teachers to carry out their normal duties.

The Association further issues this directive to all the heads of Higher Schools in Nagaland not to entertain any favors or tax collection until further notice from the NSF and ENSF, and also to report any threats and intimidations from any individuals/groups to the Association. The Association shall undertake strong and stringent measures if any untoward incident happens to any of its members. Lastly, the Association requests the collective leadership of all Naga National Groups to show mercy to the poor teachers who shoulders huge responsibility in shaping and molding the future of our society.
