NHP organizes exposure trip to Wokha district

WOKHA, MARCH 6 (MExN): In a first of its kind initiative conducted under the aegis of Nagaland Health Project (NHP), Department of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland, two health committees under Wokha district - HSCMC Lio-Longidang SC and VHC Longtsiri organized an exposure trip to Wokha Village Sub-Centre and Nsunyu Village on March 6.


The trip funded by NHP was organized with an aim to foster interaction between committees, share experiences/knowledge and to observe and learn from good performing health committees like HSCMC Wokha Village SC.


As part of the event, a brief programme was held at Wokha village SC wherein department officials, village council members and health committees addressed the gathering.


Dr Thomas Keppen, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer highlighted the activities of the Project. He said the main thrust of NHP was to strengthen the health committees through funding, handholding and capacity building.


In his message to the visitors, Dr Thomas encouraged them to observe the working environment of Wokha Village SC, learn, and emulate for development of their SC.


ANM of Wokha Village SC Renjano, a Governor’s Medal recipient impressed upon the visitors on work ethics and selflessness while in service. “If you are regular, dedicated and keep the facility open at all time, there is always scope for development and progress,” she added.


Village council members, elders and HSCMC members of Wokha Village took turns to highlight how cooperation from the community coupled with dedication of health staff were the underlying factor behind Wokha Village SC’s good performance.


Dr Lincoln Chaudhary and Arushi Bhattnagar from World Bank, the funding agency of NHP, also witnessed the exposure trip. Consultants – Achumthung Patton and Mengu Sachu from SPMU NHP and DPMU NHP members Wokha attented the event.


After interaction and inspection at Wokha Village SC, two committees visited Nsunyu village where similar interaction session was held.
