Beneficiaries wait for their turn during the free medical health camps in Mon on May 15.
Mon, May 17 (MExN): As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, NHPC Limited organised free medical health camps at Mohung village on May 14 and Longching village on May 15 under Aboi block in Mon district, in collaboration with the district administration and the Health Department.
The initiative was aimed at improving access to healthcare services for people residing in remote rural areas. Separate medical teams were constituted for Mohung and Longching villages to ensure smooth conduct of the camps and effective delivery of healthcare services.
The camps witnessed encouraging participation from local residents, who availed services including general health check-ups, antenatal care (ANC), ultrasound screening, dental consultations, ophthalmology consultations, health awareness sessions and free distribution of medicines.
At Mohung village, 264 beneficiaries received medical assistance during the camp. Services included ANC care, ultrasound examinations, dental consultations and treatments, ophthalmology consultations, general medical check-ups and free medicine distribution.
The medical team at Mohung comprised Dr Wungyong, DPO (RCH/UIP); Dr Hangsa, MO CHC Aboi; Dr K Shechung Konyak, MO UPHC; Dr Chingyen, MO Wakching; Dr Tingthong Konyak, MO OSD; and Dr Lily, MO RBSK, along with three nurses, one ophthalmic assistant, one pharmacist and supporting personnel.
At Longching village, 469 patients attended the health camp. An awareness programme and health talk were also conducted by the IEC team to educate the public on healthcare, hygiene and disease prevention.
The medical team at Longching included Dr Ngampa Sangme, Dr Wangba, Dr Hangsa, Dr Ngophelo Keviechu, Dr Lily, Dr Wanmei, Dr Chimang Paul, Dr Nyemnyei and Dr Nungshikoba Imchen. The team was supported by four nurses, one laboratory technician, videography TB staff, HIV supervisor, HIV counsellor, two pharmacists, one BPM, one IEC personnel and other supporting staff.
Altogether, the two camps benefitted 733 people from surrounding villages and nearby areas. The programme particularly benefited women, elderly persons and economically disadvantaged residents who often face difficulty accessing quality healthcare facilities.
NHPC expressed gratitude to medical officers, healthcare workers, volunteers, district officials and village authorities for their cooperation in making the initiative successful.
The company said the programme reflects its continued commitment towards community welfare, rural healthcare outreach and inclusive development.
