Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): National Health Systems Resource Center (NHSRC), Executive Director Maj Gen (Prof) Atul Kotwal, accompanied by his team, visited UPHC Duncan Bosti and District Hospital Dimapur on May 21, following his earlier visit to health centers and villages in Kohima district.
IEC Bureau Section, Office of the Chief Medical Officer Dimapur in a press release stated that due to its achievement of National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, UPHC Duncan Bosti was specifically selected for a visit by the team to review its standards.
Kotwal interacted with medical staff, ASHAs and HCMC members. The staff highlighted the need for diagnostic equipment, while ASHAs shared their experiences and expressed hopes for increased incentives. The visiting official assured that efforts to enhance ASHA incentives were underway and agreed to explore providing an X-Ray machine.
At District Hospital Dimapur, Kotwal inspected the ICU, SNCU/NCU unit, Dialysis unit, maternity ward, blood bank, emergency room, OPD and ongoing ramp construction. He interacted with medical staff and discussed challenges shared by Dr Kuveduyi, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Toska, Senior Specialist.
The release stated that Kotwal commended the team of staffs at UPHC Duncan Bosti, led by its dedicated medical officers, for effectively managing a well-functioning UPHC with notable community participation and comprehensive health service coverage.
Others in the team included from Regional Resource Center-NE, Guwahati Dr Ajay Kumar Arya, Consultant QPS, Dr Devajit Bora, Sr Consultant, CPCPHC, and Bhaswat Das, Sr Consultant, HCT while the state team included Dr Manyau Phom and Dr Kheshika Yepthom, Kevin, State Consultant. The Dimapur team was led by Dr T Temsu Lkr, CMO Dimapur, Dr Rongsennungla DPO (RCH/UIP), and DPMU staffs.
