NIA searches former MLA's residence

Former MLA and Parliamentary Secretary in the DAN III regime Dr. Benjongliba Aier’s house in Kohima was searched by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The search occurred at Dr. Aier’s Kohima residence on June 29. The search, as per sources, was related to the NIA case - 01/2016/NIA/GUW registered in 2016 to probe alleged funding of the NSCN(K) by Nagaland State Government officials. According to the sources, Dr. Aier was cooperative with the NIA sleuths, who conducted the search. No further details could be had about the outcome of the search. The search came after the former MLA was summoned by the NIA to its New Delhi headquarters for questioning on June 18. The sources, on condition of anonymity, said that the questioning did not take place as scheduled as Dr. Aier wrote back to the NIA requesting that the questioning be done in Kohima.
