Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): The semifinal and final matches of the 3rd NIAPA Northeast Open TT tourney will be held on Monday at NIAPA mini stadium in Chumoukedima.
The top seeds from Northeast India have continued their good run on the third day of the championship, but Nagaland players faced challenges in the singles for both men's and women's categories. However, they managed to salvage their position in the doubles and mixed doubles categories of the championship.
In the first semifinal match, Mizoram's top seed, Jeho Himnakulhpuingheta, will face R Lalthangsangi, while Alberto Lalremruata will take on Assam player Agniv Bhaskar Gohain in the semis. Nagaland champ Ricky Hinglak lost his opening match against Assam player Bhaskar Jyoti Sarmah in a 3-0 set defeat.
For the men's doubles semifinals, Lalremruata & Vicky Kumar Das will face Jeho & Alberto, and Suranjit & Ricky will compete against Imomcha & Seyievilie. National games bronze medalist duo Shankab & Agniv Bhaskar won two matches but had to pull off their semifinal match owing to Shankab’s injury. So Imomcha & Seyievilie will replace the duo to progress into the semifinal rounds in their group with luck.
In the women's singles semi-finals matches, Lalthangsangi Sailo will play against Akhankhya, while Assam's top seed, Kritika, will face Meghalaya champ Tanushree Das Gupta. Nagaland champ Avitoli Yepthomi suffered a 0-3 loss against Meghalaya champ Tanushree in the first match.
In the women's doubles, Tanushree & Akuonuo will play against Assam duo Kritika & Akhankhya in the semis, while Lalthangsangi & Lalmuanawn will face Thejavinuo & Avitoli in the second semifinal match.
In the mixed doubles, Lalthangsangi & Jeho will compete against R Lalthangsanga & Akuonuo in the first semifinal match, while Suranjit & Tanushree will take on Kritika & Diganto in the second semifinal match.
The closing ceremony is scheduled for 3 pm.
